Tristan Stivors recently earned his spot on the First Team All-American roster as the number one closer in the nation.
The senior from Castroville, Texas struck out 86 batters and allowed only 47 hits through 61 innings pitched in the 2022 season.
With the help of Stivors’ excellence, Texas State finished with a 47-14 record and won the Sun Belt Conference gaining an at-large bid to the Stanford Regional. Stivors closed out game 1 against Stanford to advance to the regional final and also started against Stanford in the regional final pitching a total of 7 innings that game.
It’s safe to say Stivors had an incredible season with the help of knocking off good teams such as #1 ranked Texas at the time. Stivors earned a notoriety after that game after doing the horns down symbol to the Texas dugout after striking out the final batter. The Texas players were waving goodbye to the Texas State dugout after beating them in San Marcos the previous night, making Stivors’ motion revengeful and iconic.
